How to Get Tin ID Online – Registration, Requirements, Verification Guide 2025
You could be someone who has come to the Philippines to kickstart your career or a Filipino resident joining the workforce. Whoever you are, it is important to understand what a Tin ID (Taxpayer Identification number) is. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most important numbers to know if you want to work in the Philippine workforce.
What is Tin ID?
The IRS (Internal Revenue Service) of the Government of the Philippines issues a unique Taxpayer Identification Number to each person employed in the workforce. This is done to make the process of tax collection and management easy for them. It is just like the social security number—unique to each person.

Tin ID Online Registration Process 2025
Here are the steps you need to follow for TIN registration online in 2025:
1. Visit BIR
To get your TIN Online ID, you need to visit the official website of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

2. Go to eServices section
Go to the eServices section as directed by the arrow in the below picture:

3. Select the ORUS icon
Select the ORUS icon from the options to get your ORUS Tin ID.

You will be directed to https://orus.bir.gov.ph/

4. Select New Registration Option
If you are applying for the first time, select New Registration option and choose between Non-Individual and Individual.

5. Create an Account
Here are the documents you need for TIN application. Once you have arranged the documents, click on “Create an Account” button.

Once you click the button, a pop-up will appear stating the ORUS Digital Tin Terms and Service Agreement. Read it carefully, checkmark the box at the end, and click on “I Agree” button.

6. Register as Taxpayer or Tax Agent
Choose how you want to register on ORUS. If you are an individual paying tax, choose the Taxpayer option. However, if you are a Tax agent filing tax, go for Tax Agent option.
Next, if you already have a TIN, select With Existing Tin.
However, if you are applying for first time, select Without Existing Tin.

When you select Without Existing TIN option, you’ll see this pop-up. Once you have read the information, click on I Agree button.

7. Select User Type – Transaction
Here you’ll see the following options. If you are Filipino citizen, choose “Get TIN for Filipino Citizen – E.O. 98 / One Time Taxpayer” and click “Okay”.

8. Fill Out the Registration Form
Enter the required details and click on “Register” button.

Note: Make sure to use an active email address because BIR log it in their system.
9. Verify the Email
Once you have finished the registration, check your email for a verification link from ORUS.
Click on the link to verify your account within 24 hours. Don’t forget to check the Spam folder if it is not in inbox.

After your email has been verified, you’ll see this pop up. It shows that you have been successfully registered on BIR website.

10. Log in to Your Account
Log in to your account by clicking the “Login” button in the top meu bar.

Enter your Email and Password. Click “Login” button.

11. Get Your Digital TIN ID
Once you are logged in, you’ll see a list of options you can perform on ORUS.
As we are concerned about getting our TIN, we’ll click “Get Your Digital Tin ID” option.

12. Add a Profile Photo
You need to add your profile photo to generate a digital TIN back and front side.

Here are the Digital TIN photo guidelines you need to follow. Make sure to read them before clicking a photo. Once you have read them, click “Proceed”.

13. Generate TIN ID
Once you upload your photo, a confirmation message will appear, outlining the terms and conditions. Review the details carefully, then select “Confirm” to create your digital TIN.

Once you click the Confirm button, you BIR Digital TIN ID card will start generating.

Remember to complete a survey before returning to the profile page of your ORUS account.
14. Download Digital TIN ID
Once your digital TIN is generated, you can download it by clicking the “Download Digital TIN ID” button.

Note: You can also visit the RDO (Revenue District Office) to get your TIN in person.

Types of Tin ID
You will find two main types of TIN online ID’s in the Philippines. These are the SSN (social security number) and the ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number).
1. SSN
Out of the two TINs, the SSN is the most common. It is issued by the SSA (Social Security Administration) to U.S. citizens and another foreign resident to help in filing taxes. It is a nine-digit number.
Applying for your SSN is very easy. Here are the steps you need to perform:
- Visit the official website of SSA.
- Go to Card and Record.
- Click on Number and Card and fill out the required information.

2. ITIN
This is the tax processing number that is allocated to non-resident foreigners, their married partners and any dependent who can’t get an SSN.

1. BIR Form 1902

2. Valid ID Card
It can be any government-issued ID which has your address, birthdate and name. You can use your Philippines passport, UMID (unified multi-purpose card), SSS, National Bureau of Investigation Clearance (NBI), birth certificate, driver’s license or National ID card.
3. Picture
You need to provide a 1 by 1 recent photograph of yourself.
4. Marriage Certificate
For married people, a marriage certificate is essential.
5. Other Documents
Foreign employees need to provide some additional documents. These include their passport, work permit of AEP (Application for Alien Employment)
